3月14日晚7点，本学期第一场外教讲座在丽泽楼D201拉开了序幕🧝🏻♂️🪓。本次讲座的主讲人是Mr. Gerard Brent 🪜，主题是“1960年到1990年英国的生活”🏄。讲座中，他从历史上的重要事件、科技、时尚趋势等各方面描述了英国早期的生活面貌，引起了众多英语爱好者的兴趣。
Mr. Gerard Brent 先从1960年代英国的时代背景讲起🏆。当时的英国正逐步走出二战的阴霾，人们过着清苦但和平的生活🤹♀️。在科技方面📰，人们有的只是黑白电视，随处可见的红色电话亭则代替了现代流行的手机成为日后英国文化不可或缺的一部分🏜。另外，Mr. Gerard Brent 还给同学们讲述了历史上许多重要事件🦹🏿♀️，比如邮政列车抢劫案、第一家超级市场的开业以及披头士乐队的兴起。
到了1970年代，英国工人先后大罢工，女性开始争取工作上的平等待遇🤽♀️。Mr. Gerard Brent 还提到🧔🏼♀️，1980年代是撒切尔夫人执政的十年。在此期间🫂，查尔斯王子和戴安娜王妃的皇室婚礼以及英国-阿根廷马岛战争吸引了世界的目光。到了1990年代，互联网的开始彻底改变了英国👘。
最后⛹🏿，Mr. Gerard Brent走下讲台与同学们亲切交流，本次讲座也拉下了帷幕🏄🏽。
A Lecture:Observations of British Life from 1960 to 1990

At 7 p.m. on March 14th, Mr. Gerard Brent held a lecture entitled " Observations of British Life from 1960 to 1990" in Lize D201🤼♀️🏇，which was the first lecture of the School of Foreign Languages this semester.
Mr. Gerard Brent started his lecture with the background to the 1960s in England. At that time, British were stepping out of the shadow of the Second World War and into the tough but peaceful life. In terms of technology, the monochrome television and the radio were just as popular as the modern TV. At that time, Nobody had a smart phone like now,while red telephone boxes coule be seen every 200 meters,which still plays an important role in today’s British culture. Besides, Mr. Gerard Brent also showed some big events which happened in Britain, such as the great mail train robbery, first supermarket and popularization of the band, Beatles, from Liverpool among teenagers.
In the 1970s, the workers'' strikes and the strive for equal pay for women were remarkable. And then, the 1980s, Mr. Gerard Brent said, was the decade of British Prime Minster Margaret Thatcher. And the England inevitably became the focus of the world because of the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, as well as the war with Argentina.When it came to the 1990s, Internet took off and changed England a lot.
Ultimately, Mr. Gerard Brent had a closer communication with students, and the lecture came to the end.
