Phillip Stevenson, Ms. Linda Visner, Mr. Andrew Chun , Mr. Martin Stannard, Mr. Brian Harrison, Mr. Sean McHugh。
English Corner - the Most Unforgettable Travel
By ZHOU Xingzi
As a featured activity of SFL, English Corner is held in the library from 6:00pm to 8:00pm every Wednesday and is always the most popular event among students. In order to make it more interesting and practical, there will be a different topic every week since this semester. The topic for the English Corner on October 10th is “the Most Unforgettable Travel”.
Being asked whether he had travelled during the National Holiday, Mr. Chris Dockstader said he preferred to stay on campus rather than being stuck in the traffic for hours. And then, the students also shared their unforgettable travel experience. A girl mentioned that she had been to a village to teach the children there whose smiling faces were still lingering in her mind. She said it was a very wonderful experience and she would like to volunteer teaching in the future if she had a chance to. For most students, they considered the most important thing in traveling not being the places where they have been to, but the experience they have from it. Mr. Gerard Brent shared his trip in the romantic city of France with the students. He talked about the language differences between English and French, and told the students some interesting but embarrassing stories caused by the language gap between English native speakers and French people. The students are also excited about Mr. Brent’s experience of seeing some military weapons which are left from World War II, such as grenades and guns.
The other overseas teachers attending this English Corner were: Mr. Phillip Stevenson, Ms. Linda Visner, Mr. Andrew Chun, Mr. Martin Stannard, Mr. Brian Harrison, and Mr. Sean McHugh. Both the teachers and the students had a great experience in the English Corner.
